Santa Fe, NM – July 1, 2025— Tierra Encantada Charter School (TECS) is proud to announce that all students will receive school meals at no cost during the 2025–2026 school year, regardless of income eligibility. This initiative reflects the school’s commitment to equity, health, and academic readiness by ensuring every student has access to nutritious meals each day.
In accordance with federal regulations under 7 CFR 245.5(a), the school is also notifying the public that free and reduced-price meals and free milk are available to children who meet federal income eligibility guidelines. Eligibility is determined by household size and income as established by the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Although all students will receive meals at no charge, families are still required to complete the free and reduced-price meal application. Submission of this application is critical for maintaining federal funding for meal programs and other school services. The application also ensures that the school can continue to serve all students equitably and track overall eligibility for program compliance.
This public notice is being issued in compliance with 7 CFR 245.5(a)(2) and is being shared with local news outlets, the New Mexico Department of Workforce Solutions (unemployment office), and major employers in the school’s attendance area, particularly those anticipating large-scale layoffs.
